Drew is Camper of the Year!

Congratulations, Drew!!! I have to say I was so amazed at the blessing of Drew getting the Camper of the Year award! I've been a camp counselor for 4 years now, and I know what it takes to earn this award. I had no idea how well Drew was doing since he was not on my team. He memorized the Bible verses with his own motivation and no help or even reminder to do it from me. When they announced Drew's name, I was fumbling with my camera low on battery and grabbed our movie camera what was flashing a warning that the hard drive was full. In other words, I basically missed him receiving it. Good job, Drew! He won with over 4,000 hard earned points!

A Week at the Midwest District Missionary Church Kids' Camp

I had this great idea a few years ago for our whole remaining family living at home to be involved in Kids' camp the first year Mikiah was eligible to attend it. That was this year! I wish I had a picture of all of us....Dale, Debbie, Mallory, Trey, Drew, and Mikiah.....together at camp. That would have taken some organization and we were all responsible for other kids there, so that just didn't happen, but we did get this quick shot of some of us while Tyler and Lauren visited us on Tuesday evening. They attended the time of worship and time in the Word with the whole 53 kids and probably about 20 adults. We sang a really fun song that night..."I think I'm gonna throw-up (repeated 3X) ...my hands to the LORD!" I loved that song, it was so fun!!!! The cool thing was seeing 70 some people throwing up their hands to the LORD! It was awesome! Part of the worship leader's heart was to lead the children into more heartfelt and active worship. It's ok to get excited about God's great love and plan for us all through Jesus. We get excited about a lot of things on this earth and this is truly one that should be above all other things. (sports, winning money, whatever makes you really happy)

I'm sorry that we couldn't find Mikiah ad Drew quick enough for this shot. I was thinking of them while we had it taken, but that was all I could do.

This was in the lunch room on the last day. Josh was so glad to get back $1 from his snack fund for the week!!

The yellow team won the week's activities. There s a competition set up for the week which included memorizing Bible verses, athletic activities and games, good deeds, etc. The Bible memory adds up the most since each verse is worth many points. This camp was the most successful Bible memorizing camp ever. 42 of the 53 kids memorized to the 2nd Level. Each camper started out the week being considered on Level 1- Uninvolved. I think that title helped most of the kids to decide to" get" involved and memorize!!! There were 8 sections of Scripture to memorize for the week and then extra credit verses. Some of the sections of Scripture were at least 3 to 5 verses. Others were shorter. I memorized all 8 because I love God's Word and it is very invigorating to memorize His Word. It really makes me encourged and motivated!!!

We had to participate in a drama/music activity each day. Little did I know that we would perform a song for the group at the evening service. Drew is in the green shirt in front. They did a cool song...."My Redeemer Lives".....They did a dance with it and lifted their hands to the Lord on the part that repeated "My Redeemer Lives". I was impressed!!

Drew and Mikiah competed in the Talent Show and received a certificate for it. Everyone was really enjoying "Rock Around the Clock" and Mik and Drew's fancy swing steps. Maybe I'll get the video on sometime.

It was a great week ministering to kids' needs and celebrating God's great love for us all for the whole week!!!
